Christmas Time

Christmas is only a few days away and I am very excited. I love Christmas because I get to see those people I love who live far away and because I get to see those people at the Mall wearing those amazing Christmas sweater. One thing I hate about Christmas though (I sound like the Grinch) is those sappy commercials and Movies about Santa Clause. Look Santa is great and all but stop talking about how magical he is and that every child needs to believe in him. Okay thanks for letting me get that out. Anyways I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah (although I think that has passed).

Winter, Bleh

So I have to be Honest, I hate Winter. despite my hatred for the season I am going to be positive and write a list about my favorite things about winter.

1. Sweaters, sweatshirts, sweatpants and slippers. I love that in winter I have an excuse to wear all of these things (possibly all at the same time). Wonderful!

2. Hot Chocolate with mini marshmallows. I love me some hot coco and the best time to have it is when its really cold outside. But do not forget the equally important mini marshmallows. Hot chocolate without mini marshmallows is like a Tuna melt without cheese. Unacceptable.

3. Christmas. Christmas is by far the best part of winter.

So that was all I was able to come up with. There are more things I like about the season but I cannot come up with anything else right now. Its going to be a ruff 3 months for Mal.

Turkey for me, Turkey for you

So thanksgiving is almost upon us and I am very excited. This year it’s just going to be lil sister, Ez and I at the parents. Big sister #1, Maggie, will be celebrating in Alaska. She will be having a traditional Alaskan thanksgiving consisting of Moose meat, Alaskan Salmon and snow. Apparently that’s how they celebrate up there. Big sister #2, Ashley, will be celebrating with her hubby Ryan in good old bean town (Boston). So that leaves the rest of us to be celebrating with Dev(father) and Beck(mother). I am very excited, Beck is quite the cook so I am sure there will be a absolute Smörgåsbord (spelled correctly!) of delicious foods and treats. So to wrap up, have a happy Thanksgiving everyone! Oh and be safe, I just read an article saying thanksgiving is the most dangerous driving day of the year!

Top 5 guilty pleasures

So the other day I was listening to the radio and they were asking listeners, what are some things you love but you know are crappy. I thought I would indulge the readers of my blog by giving you my top 5 things I love but shouldn't because they suck.

5. The movie Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, starring Lindsay Lohan as an eccentric teenager. I know this movie is bad but I love it anyways and don't care what anyone says about it. P.S. Its like Megan Fox's first movie, but I hate Megan Fox so I don't know why I advertised that.

4. The Gossip Girl Books, I read the books long before the show was around and they are total potato chips for the mind but just like potato chips they are SO good. They are the most entertaining books and I love them.

3. Cup of Noodles. I still love these bad boys even though they are so bad for you. They taste so good to me but I swear they should. Also they are SO convenient.

2. Us Weekly, Us Weekly is so bad but so good. It is like the equivalent of a picture book for adults, but that's why I love it, you can browse through it quickly and be totally entertained, then if you have a little more time you can read the two articles they have in it.

1. And the winning spot goes to the music of the teen sensation Miley Cyrus. The Climb, Party in the U.S.A., and I cant wait to see you again, they are all musical masterpieces. I love her but I know I shouldn't. When I am in the car and The Climb comes on I belt it out so loud, all the other cars within a mile can hear me. But do not be confused I do Not like Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montana. I only love her music, but I really love it.

Happy Birthday Lil sister

Today Abbey Mekenzie Olson aka lil' sister is turning 21! Lil sister and I are the best of friends and in honor of her birthday I am putting together some of my favorite AMO pictures. Pictures include; Abbey as Dobie the house elf, Ghetto Fabulouse Abbey, and baby Abbey, where she looks adorable but the boy/girl? in the bottom right corner is not so adorable, oh wait that's me. Well anyways, happy birthday Abbey, you are one of my favorite people in the world and the best sister money can buy. Love you!

RIP Tom Selleck Jr.

So this past week I had some very bad news. My dear bunny Tom Selleck Jr. passed away. You may be wondering how he acquired his name, well, my sweet bunny was white with brown spots and had a spot over his mouth, looking like a mustache, so we named him after the ultimate man with a stache, Tom Selleck. Tom was so cute. I loved my Bunny but my dad is the most devastated by the news. Though reluctant when I first got him, my dad became Toms biggest fan. He would always take veggies out to his cage and let him out of his cage and watch him jump around. Dev and Tom went together like peas and carrots. We will all miss Tom and his sweet face. R.I.P. Tom.

Mallory silenced

So this last weekend I had a cold, my cold then turned into me loosing my voice. It was so bad that at work on Sunday they had to send me home early. It came to the point were I had to just whisper to everyone I was talking to. It was so awkward. Eric and I went to eat and I did not say a word to the server, I would whisper what i wanted to eat to Eric and he would order it for me. I think the server thought Eric had some iron grasp on me and would not let me talk. So my voice is finally coming back and not a moment to soon. I mean come on, Mal without a voice, that will not do.

Going back to Cali

So Eric and I went to California last weekend. It was so fun. We went to the Red Sox vs. Angels playoff game. Eric's an Angels fan and I am a Red Sox fan so he left the game happy and I left not so happy. We also went to the Rose Bowl to see UCLA play Oregon. That did not go as well for either of us, I don't know if anyone saw highlights from the game but lets just say Oregon had 3 touchdowns in about a minute. Not the Bruin's finest hour but it was still great to finally see the Bruins play in the Rose Bowl. We also went to Disneyland (amazing) and got to hang out with Eric's sis Ashley and her hubby Rory down in Encinitas. So to recap, both my teams lost, but it takes a lot more than that to spoil my weekend away.

Busy

Life has been so busy. When I got home from Tennessee I started an internship the next day. It is at Fuel Marketing and I am a PR intern. I really like it and its so nice to be doing something that will help me get a full time job. I feel like after you graduate from college you are expected to go out and get your career no problem, but with how things are in the job market it is a lot easier said then done. It can be the most frustrating thing in the world. I am so glad to have something that is leading me in the right direction.

Tennessee

So I am home from Tennessee and I have to say the trip was a total success. Here are some of the reasons it was a great weekend.
1. The bruins won. ESPN was saying Tennessee had it in the bag but the Bruins showed their stuff and pulled it off.
2. Knoxville has the nicest people on the planet. Talk about southern hospitality, after the game we went to eat and we had about 6 different people come up to us and congratulate us on UCLA's win.
3. The Food. Some really good bar-b-que and waffle house.

All in all we had a great time.

Go Bruins!

I am So EXCITED! I am going to Knoxville, Tennessee for the weekend. UCLA is playing the University of Tennessee on Saturday so Eric's family (the most die hard UCLA fans ever) are going down south to see the game. I am excited for the game but truth be told I am way more excited for the food. I LOVE barbecue and plan on eating only that when I am down there. You heard me right. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all BBQ and preferably ribs. I will give you a report on how the trip was and most importantly how the food was. So excited!

GO BRUINS!

Insomnia

So anyone who knows me knows that I do not have a hard time sleeping. I pride myself in being able to sleep anywhere at any time. Recently though that has changed. Every night for the past 5 days I get in bed, read my book for about 20 minutes, lie in my bed with my mind going a mile a minute for about 20 minutes or until I realize that I am not going to bed anytime soon, get up and surf the internet until I have exhausted that resource then just watch TV till I can fall asleep, which usually ends up being around 4-5 o'clock in the morning. I hate it! I have a theory that Eric is slipping me cocaine so that I will not be able to sleep and he will have the bed all to him self, or maybe he is slipping me Meth in hopes that I will clean the apartment outrageously well in my Meth-induced state. Or maybe I have slept so much prior to my recent insomnia that my body has decided I don't need anymore sleep. I think these are all good theorys that I will research and hopefully crack the case on my inability to sleep at night.

Amazing

I am no art expert and I claim to know nothing about architecture but I think the work of Frank Gehry is amazing. I took an architecture class my first semester of college, truth be told I slept through most of the it, one thing that stuck with me was the masterpieces of Frank Gehry. The building above is the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Spain. I would encourage everyone to look up some of his other buildings because this man is a master at his art.

My Dog

So sometimes when I cant sleep at night I think about what I am going to name my future dog. I want a dog so bad, but The Fairlane (our beautiful apartment complex) will not allow it. I have figured out the name and breed of dog I will get. I want a french bulldog and I will name it Burnsie. The dog in the picture is my dream dog. When I get Burnsie I will also dress her in navy and white striped sweaters just like the dog in the picture. I can't wait.
