An ode to Amy

So I have mentioned some of my girl crushes in the past but I have decided to dedicate an entire post to my ultimate girl crush. I don't want to be like this person, I want to be this person.
Who is this amazing person you are thinking(the picture above is probably a good clue)?

It is Amy Poehler. Why is Mrs. Poehler so great you may ask. Take a look at her resume and you will see why she is so great.

First there was Saturday Night Live. If you need proof of how hilarious she was on this show, go into Google and type in Kaitlin on Saturday Night Live. You wont be disappointed.

Okay now the second reason she is awesome is because of her performance in Baby Mama. Just take a look at this quote below and you will see why.

Amy's character Angie referring to her significant other:
We met the summer after I discontinued high school, and we've been together ever since. He never officially asked me to be his wife but he never asked me to not be his wife either, so things are going pretty good.
Third reason she is awesome is her staring role on the television program Parks and Recreation. This is currently my favorite comedy on TV. The entire cast is amazing but Amy as Leslie Knope is really what seals the deal. If you have never seen the show I would highly recommend checking it out and if you are only going to watch one episode, make sure it is the episode titled 'Flu Season'.

The above reasons are why I love Amy Poehler. This lady has the key to my funny bone and this post is my salute to her.

Oh and the last reason why she is awesome, she is married to Gob Bluth (Will Arnett) for realsies. Photo below to prove it.

This does not really prove that they are married but I promise they are.

Back to the Future in Photos

I was going through some the pictures on our computer and found some pretty great old photos. I thought I would share.

Eric with lil' sis Ashley. You would never think that my slightly racially ambiguous husband was a toe head as a baby.

Eric with his older brother Steve. Love those matching outfits.

Eric with his Grandpa. I love that smile.

My uncle Randy, his dog Bear and I. Look at that, I had red hair as a baby.

Wow check out that fur. Work it girl.

I love this picture. This is me with my childhood bestie Tyler. I am the one in the red. I know its hard to tell who the girl is in this pic.

Oh look what cute kids we were.

Mad for Mail

When most people think of mail they don't usually get too excited and when they think of the post office some people get down right mad. I, on the other hand, love mail. To me, mail is like a little present delivered to your door. I love giving and receiving it.

I also love the post office, I know there are usually horrible lines but I love seeing what people are sending. I secretly would love to work at the post office just so I could see what everyone was sending and why.

It makes me a little sad that people are not sending mail like they used to. Obviously email is great and I love that it saves paper, but there is something that is so personal about a mail that I love.

So send a postcard to a friend and I bet they will be very presently surprised. It is a great way to show someone that you are thinking of them.

On one last note, I am refering to personal mail, not bills and junk mail.

Puppy Love

We have had Karl for a little over a week and so far it has been going tremendously. Both Eric and I are a little obsessed with him. You know the scene in Raising Arizona, when they kidnap the baby and Ed starts to cry and says "I love him so much", well that is about how Eric and I feel about Karl.

It hasn't all been daisy's and rainbows though, we have run into a few problems, the biggest one being that when my hair is down he thinks it is one of his chew toys. He will latch his little jaw on my hair and wont let go. I can usually get it out of his grasp pretty quick but I cant help but think this tug of war with my locks must be giving me some serious hair damages, I mean most shampoo bottles don't say "helps protect against heat, pollution and your puppy". I am hoping that this is just puppy behavior and he will grow out of it but if not maybe I will cut my hair super short like Emma Watson.

Well that is all for now in Karl news, I will keep you updated and let you know if starts getting hairballs.

Best of the 2011 Award Season

The Oscars were this last weekend and they were fine but kind of boring, Anne Hathaway as a host was more awkward than funny and there was really no surprise winners but this post is not a critique of the Oscars, it is a post about the fashion. One of my favorite parts of the Oscars and award season in general is the fashion.

In this post I am going to show you my favorite looks of award season, this will include the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards, the Grammys and of course the Academy Awards.

I will start with the biggest and most important. This year I found the fashion at this Oscars to be a little underwhelming. The women looked gorgeous of course, but all the looks felt a little safe. Although I was not very impressed with most of the dresses, here are my favorites:

Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein. As I have stated in previous posts, Gwyneth is my girl and she is looking beautiful as always.

Celine Dion in Giorgio Armani Privé looked the best I have ever seen her, and she just had twins. You go Celine Dion.

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Haute Couture. This dress may have made it into some peoples worst dressed category but I think it is a stunning dress. I love the back and no one can say that they have seen this look before. Also her styling is impeccable, gorgeous hair and makeup. Not safe and that's why I liked it.

Hillary Swank in Gucci Première. Sequins and feathers, sounds like the equation for for a Vegas showgirls costume, instead it makes a gorgeous, completely classy, Oscar gown.

Jennifer Lawrence looking smokin' hot in Calvin Klein. Maybe it looks a little like Baywatch but she is working it. I'll take her over Pam Anderson any day.

Next up is the Grammys. To be honest, the fashion at the Grammys never gets me very excited, maybe because most of the attendees outfits are so costumy, or maybe its because some the attendees don't exactly have the best fashion sense e.g. Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.

I did however think one Pop Star looked beautiful:

Selena Gomez in J. Mendel. I think she is adorable and she looked so gorgeous and so classy that night. Well done SG.

Next up is the SAG awards. There are so many award shows and it seems like the SAG awards are the ones that no one seems to care about, including me. That does not mean I am going to ignore it though because here were some beautiful dresses there.

Rosario Dawson in J. Mendel. I am a sucker for yellow and this color looks so gorgeous with her skin. Like a Lemon Meringue pie I am eating this look up.

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta. I think she looks beautiful and this gown looks amazing, I do however have one critique, could you please crack a smile Lea, this is not a Victoria Secret photo shoot this is the red carpet. You look beautiful you don't have to make the sexy face the entire redcarpet. Nuff said.

Last but certainly not least is the Golden Globes. Personally, I was most impressed with the looks from the Globes. One trend at the Globes that I loved was all the sleeves, strapless dresses are so popular but I feel like playing with sleeves gives you so much more opportunity for creativity. Here are my favorite looks (all of which have sleeves):

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace. I love the retro style of this dress, I also like the emerald color. One side note though, Angelina, you need to eat something. She is looking way to skinny these days.
Emma Stone in Calvin Klein. I loved the simplicity of this dress, the color was so fun and looks great on her. I think she looks awesome.

Eva Longoria in Zac Posen. This was my favorite dress in all of award season. This dress fits her like a glove, her body looks phenomenal and I love her minimal jewelry that let all the attention fall on her dress. Eat your heart out Tony Parker.

And there you go. My favorite looks of the 2011 award seasons. If you have a favorite look that you think I missed let me know I would love to hear your opinions.
